Our Approach

At Dialogue Studio, we believe the best design begins by listening.

Every project starts with a conversation—not only about spatial needs, materials, or aesthetics, but about how people live, what they value, and how they hope to feel in the places they call home. Those conversations become the foundation for architecture and interiors that are thoughtful, enduring, and deeply personal.

We approach each project as an ongoing exchange between people, place, and possibility. Through careful observation, rigorous design exploration, and close collaboration with our clients and consultants, we refine complexity into spaces that feel calm, intuitive, and quietly resolved.

Based in San Francisco, Dialogue Studio provides architecture and interior design services for residential projects throughout the Bay Area and beyond. We guide each project from early vision through construction with curiosity, discipline, and care, believing that lasting architecture emerges from thoughtful dialogue, careful editing, and an unwavering commitment to detail execution.

Our Team

Melissa Kim

Melissa Kim is the Founder and Principal of Dialogue Studio. With eighteen years of experience working on custom residential projects, she established the practice around a simple belief: the strongest design begins with listening and observing.

Melissa leads projects from early vision through construction, bringing clarity to complexity and a thoughtful, collaborative approach to creating homes that endure.

Outside the studio, Melissa enjoys traveling with her husband, hiking with her two rescue dogs, discovering new restaurants, and gathering with family and friends. She also loves wandering her local farmers' markets, where she once stumbled upon a Nantes carrot that forever raised her standards for what a carrot could be.

Bob Bixby

Bob Bixby is an architectural designer with 15 years of experience delivering projects from the Bay Area to the East Coast. He earned his architecture degree from the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston.  His professional background includes a varied mix of project types—including public installations, historic restorations, commercial bars and cafes, and a primary focus on single-family residential design.  He enjoys the collaborative nature of the design process and realizing the details that bring character to every home and building.

Lauren Harrison

Lauren Harrison is a licensed architect with 15  years of experience, working across the Bay Area on a variety of project types including residential, arts, historic renovations, and workplace interiors. Drawn to the more technical side of the craft, Lauren brings a detailed eye and extensive experience in the construction phase of projects. She's equally interested in the human experience of a space — how proportion, light, and materiality come together to shape the way people actually feel in a room. Outside of work, Lauren can usually be found on a hiking trail or in her garden, cutting and arranging flower bouquets.

Ryan Golenberg

Ryan Golenberg is a licensed architect with 18 years of experience shaping projects across the San Francisco Bay Area. Raised in Southern California, he headed north to earn his Bachelor of Architecture from the California College of Arts before completing his Master's at the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

Ryan has worked across a wide range of scales and typologies—from architectural installations to schools, restaurants, and art galleries—and today focuses primarily on single-family residential design. He's driven by the space between idea and object: how a concept can be translated, tested, and ultimately built. He believes great design is always the product of genuine collaboration.
